Dempsey Hill Overrated?

I really have no idea what to write about these days. Apart from reading the ramblings of Dr Chee to the transfer bitching in the media, something caught my attention. It’s the rising popularity of Dempsey Hill, which I think has reached Hollywood status.

When it first started out, only mid-age chaps would flock to Dempsey Hill to have a quiet drink and chillax with friends. It’s the peaceful and calming atmosphere which attracted people. I reckon you can even hold a business discussion there.

But now, everything’s changed. The New Paper wrote that all these people who come to Dempsey Hill want to see and be seen. It’s very weird if you ask me because they make up the YPs (Young Punks) or kiddos, aged 14-19. Like whatever for you go here and there just to be seen as the cool, hip and happening individual. What do you get by doing that? I have to ask them.

Whatever it is, there are a couple of good makan spots, one being the Ben and Jerrys ice cream and Samy’s Curry. I’ve never patronized the latter, just that I heard good stuff about them. But for the former, they inflated the prices. The last time I bought 2 waffles ice cream there, it cost 30 quid. Go do the math.

No doubt it’s a cool place to hang out and destress with friends if you come at the right time. Avoid going there on weekends and public holidays. The “hippie” crowd may leave you frustrated. And don’t forget to fatten your wallet for you’d be surprised to know how much the food costs there.
